Mother’s Day weekend was the perfect opportunity for a Marian Retreat. God was shining down upon the 15 ladies in the beauty of the morning; the sunshine spectacular. The RC Women and friends in the Cheshire area, came together at a local venue to “Fly to Mary”. Fr. Francisco Sunderland, LC provided the Retreat. The morning began with fellowship and light refreshments, followed by a reflection on Mary, the “Closed Garden”; the garden that surrounds us like in her Immaculate Womb with her Son, Jesus. It was like a warm hug from our Mother in Heaven.
Following our first reflection, we entered the “Closed Garden” of the Chapel where we prayed to Mary this prayer:
Sub Tuum Praesidium
“We Fly to Thy Protection”
We fly to thy protection,
O holy Mother of God;
despise not our petitions
in our necessities,
but deliver us always
from all dangers,
O glorious and
blessed Virgin.
Amen
Fr. Francisco provided Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and sat with us periodically offering scriptural reflections. We also prayed the Rosary together. We continued to be wrapped in Mary’s Closed Garden with her and Christ, her Son. Mary took us to Jesus in the Mass and will accompany us one day, we hope, to our eternal reward.
