The recent Regnum Christi and Lumen Institute summer barbecue, graciously hosted by Jeff and Val Sprague at their beautiful home in Greenwich, Connecticut, was a joyful and memorable gathering that brought together Catholic young adults from throughout Manhattan and members of the Regnum Christi community from Florida and other parts of the country.

Attendees were especially blessed to begin the event with a beautiful Mass together at the Sprague home, led by Father Jorge Obregón. The day was filled with meaningful fellowship, delicious Fourth of July barbecue, wonderful desserts, and a festive birthday cake celebrating everyone with July birthdays. Jeff and Val Sprague beautifully embodied the virtue of hospitality – not only by opening their home so generously, but also by providing thoughtful mementos for guests, including devotional books, rosaries, and candy bags, and even sharing leftovers for guests to take home.

Consecrated Sister Mary Smith was in attendance, which provided a special opportunity for newer members of Lumen Institute who had recently begun spiritual direction with her to meet her in person. Overall, the barbecue was a beautiful blessing and a successful celebration of faith, friendship, and community – strengthening the bonds within Regnum Christi and the Body of Christ within the Tri-state Catholic community.
