Centering Our Life Around Christ

As we journey through the second year of the National Eucharistic Revival, my family and I have looked for opportunities to awaken our wonder and gratitude for this tremendous gift of Christ’s Body and Blood. As Regnum Christi members, our entire life is centered on the Eucharist. The fruit of this union is communion with God and our brothers and sisters. This principle of Regnum Christi spirituality was on full display on October 26th at the “Worship the King” event held at the home of the Legionaries of Christ community in Rye, NY.

The event kicked off with a time of fellowship including an awesome food truck serving up savory bites and some delicious homemade desserts. We could not have asked for better weather! Our four young kids were able to explore the picturesque property and chase Rico, the community lab, around the new grotto to Our Lady. To their amazement, it had a flowing waterfall!

As the sun set, the dedicated team of volunteers lit a beautifully arrayed set of tiki torches that offered a soft glow from the main house down to a tent prepared for a King. When all was ready, Fr Jorge Obregon, LC processed with Jesus in the monstrance, and set Him before all of us eagerly awaiting this time of peace and prayer. A young couple led the eighty-five-plus adorers in songs of worship for our King. Between the times of praise and silence, Fr Mark Haydu, LC guided all those present in a reflection on the Gospel. He inspired all of us with his insights and encouraged us to take advantage of this time to offer our prayers and adoration for all the children present and for the many more not present but who are in need of our intercession before God. Fr Eric Nielsen, LC was available for confession. The evening concluded with a benediction. All of the volunteers that planned and put on this event did a terrific job and we can’t thank them enough for giving us this time to be with Jesus.

The Worship the King Event was an opportunity to recenter our lives on the essential; Spending time with Jesus in the Eucharist. As a young family, we have many events and activities that drain our energy and we can arrive at the end of the day feeling depleted. But I can truly say that, while we had a few tired eyes that night, we all left feeling filled up. It always amazes me that when we “spend” time with Jesus, we always leave full. We look forward to many more events like this in the future and we hope that others will come to experience the joy of Worshiping the King.
