“Focusing on the Ultimate Goal”

Fr. Mark Haydu and Fr. Eric Nielsen directed a set of Men’s Spiritual Exercises and RC Triduum of Renewal at Cheshire, CT from March 14th-17th. In total, 26 men from the NY Tri-State area, Washington DC, Boston and Jupiter, FL took part. At the end, several participants expressed interest in Regnum Christi, and two of them are scheduled to associate in the near future. Below are personal testimonies from those who attended.

“Each lent my sons and I come to Cheshire for 2 ½ days of a silent retreat. It is a grace-filled experience in the holy surroundings of the Fathers and Brothers at the Novitiate and College. This year Fr. Eric Nielsen and Fr. Mark Haydu were the outstanding leaders of our meditations, prayers, and reconciliations. Their talks were clear, engaging, and helpful jumping-off points for our meditations. The prayerful surroundings induced us to read and contemplate our situation in life and let God’s grace help us grow. Leaving on Sunday afternoon made us stronger and more confident that we could master our mission here on Earth while having a clearer focus on the ultimate goal.”

-Sebastian Schneeweiss, M.D.

“My experiences in 2 Spiritual retreats I was privileged to attend at the Legionary of Christ Seminary in Cheshire have been illuminated by the Grace of our Blessed Lord that radiates from the love of God that is so strong in seminarians. I am humbled in their presence. The Holy Ghost moved me there and stays with me stronger today as a constant reminder to seek and remain always in the presence of God.”

“The Spiritual Exercises are a perfect way to step away from the noise and the rush of the world, to quiet our minds and hearts, and to reorder your will back to God.”

Manuel Arce

“The world turns and the cross remains the motto of the Carthusians. Are you being overwhelmed come rest and refocus.”

Bob Perugini

“Whenever I walk into a retreat in Cheshire, I get a bucket of grace poured over me. Fortunately, I have three days to sort it out and learn to act on it.”

-Gary Tennyson

“Having never participated in a silent retreat, I was anxious about the experience. The weekend far exceeded my expectations! Fathers Eric and Mark provided compelling reflections that yielded such great introspection.  I came away feeling revitalized in my faith, with a deeper closeness to our Lord and gratitude for all his gifts.”

-David Mercugliano

“As a first-time participant in a silent retreat, I was unsure about the effect or experience this journey would have on me. Prompted by the Holy Spirit and Father Eric, I was excited and anxious about this new endeavor. The weekend of solitude, reflections, and prayer proved to be life-changing. The opportunity to quiet the noise and be at peace to observe and feel the Holy Spirit enabled me to realize the magnitude of God‘s love for us. I carry with me the profound lessons and experiences which assist me on how I approach each day. I look forward to attending the silent retreat yearly.
