Choosing the “Three to Get Married” program to fulfill our pre-cana requirement has been one of the best decisions my fiancé and I made as we prepare for marriage. Although there can be many options out there for pre-cana, we felt drawn to this program due to its in-person format and it did not disappoint! The one-and-a-half-day program was filled with dynamic speakers sharing their first-hand experience in marriage in a relatable way. The program covered a wealth of essential discussions necessary as we prepare to say “I do” at the altar and for life! These discussions ranged from the theology of marriage, family culture, fertility, raising kids, how to love and remain in love with your spouse, communication, finance, and more! The chosen speakers not only were edifying and vulnerable with us but also provided us with practical strategies and tools to apply moving forward. The program also provided a booklet we used filled with tools and questionnaires to review with your future spouse. It will continue to be an important resource we can turn to as we navigate marriage.
Moreover, the weekend provided ample opportunity to receive the sacraments which is something we could not have accessed in a virtual program! Fr. Jorge Obregon LC and Fr. Daniel Ray LC walked with us the entire weekend, encountered us where we were, and guided us as individuals and couples! All in all, my fiancé and I are grateful to God for the opportunity to participate in this program and the connections made that we can take with us as we approach and enter into marriage.
