As the long, peaceful days of summer transition to the cool, crisp days of fall, the NY Tri-State Regnum Christi family came together on Saturday, September 10th to kick off a new year of events, evangelization, and encountering Christ. There was no better place to do this than the Fathers’ House in Rye, New York. All were invited to attend mass on the front porch and approximately thirty members and friends, as well as some beautiful children, came to pray, worship, and celebrate being together as a family of faith.
Each of the Sunday readings that day perfectly encapsulated the Regnum Christi mission to go out into the world and share the good news of God’s merciful love. Through hearing Moses plead for mercy for his people (Ex 32:7-11, 13-14), the responsorial psalm refrain, “I will rise and go to my father” (Ps 51:3-4, 12-13, 17, 19), St.Paul’s deep gratitude for God’s compassion (1 Tm 1:12-17), and Luke’s Gospel (Lk 15:1-32) with the parables of the lost sheep and the prodigal son, we experienced the urgency of our Regnum Christi charism to evangelize the culture by communicating God’s unrelenting love for his children. After listening to Father Eric Nielsen’s inspiring homily and witnessing the reverent concelebration with Father Mark Haydu, Father Jorge Martinez, Father Jorge Obregon, and Father Daniel Ray, our NY Tri-State Regnum Christi family was not only united in prayer and mission but also motivated to go out and set the world ablaze. After mass, we gathered for food and fellowship, and all left refreshed and ready for the exciting year ahead.
