Three to Get Married offered my fiancée and I invaluable insight into the sacrament of marriage. This preparation course organized by the Legionaries of Christ at their home in Rye, NY, allowed for couples to fully immerse themselves in the important next phase of their relationship. The goal of the course was to empower couples and equip them with relationship tools to ensure a loving and healthy marriage. Although the couples in the course came from around the world and had diverse backgrounds, we gathered together for a common goal: to bring ourselves closer to God and learn best practices from successful marriages that have stood the test of time.

This one-day program, led by Fr. Jorge Obregon, LC, and Laura Esposito, showcased a range of speakers who shed light on topics that are the cornerstones of fruitful marriages. The 3TGM speakers tailored their comments to address important topics for soon-to-be newlyweds through various sessions titled “Communication,” “How to Love Your Spouse,” “Faith and Finance,” “Fertility in Marriage,” “Family of Origin,” and “Remaining in Love.”  After each session couples were invited to dialogue with their future spouses in private and were prompted to engage in discussion questions which were distributed.

During each of these sessions, couples heard best practices and tips from husbands and wives. The speakers volunteered their time to be with us and spoke passionately about their respective topics. My fiancée and I felt that the speakers had a vested interest in the success of our marriage. The speakers exceeded our expectations and we were impressed with the comprehensiveness of the curriculum.

With the help of the Legionaries of Christ and a dozen or so speakers, we are excited to fulfill the Sacrament of Marriage all while keeping the lessons learned in pre-cana close to our hearts!
